Blue tongues, sweet memories, and easy meals

This weekend we had a family get-together—one of those relaxed, familiar days that remind you how comforting it is to be with people who really know you.

At the end of it, my three nieces—Jeanah, Olivia, and Jaelin—drove my dad’s car home so he could ride back with me. When they pulled in, I asked, “How was the ride back home?”

Olivia just grinned—one of those big, genuine smiles that says it all. She didn’t say much, but you could tell it had been special. Jaelin stood beside her, both of them happy just to be together, blue mouths from their Icees and full of the kind of quiet joy that stays with you.

It reminded me of moments from my own childhood—those small things that felt so big at the time. We all have memories like that.
It was just sweet to see one of theirs being made. 💙
