This past weekend, I celebrated my birthday at the beach with my little family and a few friends — one of my favorite traditions. Every year if we can, we make it happen. There’s something about being near water that feels so peaceful to me.

Charlie has warmed up to the water so much this year. Instead of running straight in, he would grab mine or Andy’s hand and pull us into the water with him. It was sweet to see that he still knows he needs us in there with him.

In the afternoon, my parents joined us, and we ended the day with a pontoon ride — just like I used to do when I was younger and living at home. It felt nostalgic and special.
